Chocolate Orange Snowball Cookies

Melt in the mouth chocolate orange snowball cookies made in the thermomix with Lindt orange chocolate. Dusted with icing sugar and baked in the oven to give a natural snowball look



  • Lindt orange chocolate
  • 180g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 70g soft butter
  • 140g brown sugar 
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange rind
  • 20g cocoa power
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • 100g icing sugar


  1. Place the chocolate orange in the TM bowl and melt 3 minutes, 50˚C, speed 2. Place in a separate bowl until required. Wash and dry the TM bowl.
  2. Add the butter and brown sugar to the TM bowl and beat 2 minutes, speed 4 until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time and beat 10 seconds, speed 4.
  4. Add the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, orange zest and cocoa powder and blend 20 minutes, speed 3. Scrape down the sides with the spatula and repeat again 20 minutes, speed 3.
  5. Place the dough in a bowl and leave in the fridge a minimum of 3 hours or until the mixture is thick and pliable.
  6. Preheat the oven to 180˚C.
  7. Sift the icing sugar onto a large plate or dish. Roll the dough into balls and dip in icing sugar.
  8. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 10-12 minutes. Leave to cool on a wire rack. Enjoy!


If you want plain chocolate snowballs then omit the orange zest and use plain Lindt dark chocolate.
